United Metal Coating commences operations at Dubai Industrial City
Dubai Industrial City, the region’s leading manufacturing and logistics destination and a member of Tecom Investments, today announced United Metal Coating LLC (UMC) has commenced operations at the 195,000 sq ft facility in its premises. A state-of-the-art continuous coil coating line in the region, the UMC facility is located in the base metal zone of Dubai Industrial City.

Smartworld uses APC to power new datacentres
Service provider Smartworld has completed the installation of two Tier-3 rated datacentres in Dubai World Central with the help of power and cooling specialist APC by Schneider Electric. Smartworld is involved with a number of major upcoming technology projects in Dubai and specialises in the aviation sector, with a business unit devoted to airport systems.

Dubai International is already poised for an aggressive expansion, as Griffiths said: “In the long term, we expect to crack the 100-million passenger mark before the end of the next decade so investment in the infrastructure to support this growth will continue. This includes plans for building Concourse 3 the world’s first dedicated A380 facility and Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International.”

Does Dubai need another airport?
Dubai’s colossal new transport hub, Al Maktoum International Airport, is set to open in June – albeit for cargo flights only. No date has been set for the launch of passenger flights, but the airport’s management is in ongoing talks with airlines over relocation to the new hub.
